It’s a harsh reality that Hawaii’s educators are severely underpaid, yet they consistently pay out of pocket to provide for students who come to school without. And it’s not just basic pencils and paper—teachers often step up to buy essentials like backpacks, slippers, and even clean shirts for children in need.
